Temperament: The disposition should be equable and kind, resolute and courageous (not vicious or aggressive), and demeanor should be pacific and dignified.
The Bulldogs tail is naturally very short and never docked for appearance. Sometimes they begin straight and very short and as they grow for the first couple months, the tail kinks and/or screws. A screw-tail is most common, a straight tail is actually more desired in the show ring. Sometimes if a kinked or screw-tail is too tight and causes infections, the vet may recommend docking or amputation, but this isn't very common.
The "rope" or "roll" is the beautiful wrinkled folding of skin that covers the tiny bit of snout, located above the nose and below the eyes. The rope is what seems to attract most first time bulldog owners. Yeast and bacteria naturally live on and in the skin of Bulldogs, as in humans and other breeds of dogs as well, but if the crease underneath the rope isn't maintained properly an infection can result. A simple swipe of a soft cloth daily will prevent infection in most cases.
You get to pick!
Often, Breeders won't allow families to choose their own puppy, preferring to match puppies with families. We admire this practice.
However, TT Bullyz has decided to allow families to choose the puppy they want, so as long as they've listened to our guidance/recommendations/information, such as, we will explain the results of temperament testing, and as we show you each puppy that's available for you to pick from, we will tell you things like "this is the class clown, always making us laugh" or "this one barks the most" or "this one tries to escape the whelping pen" or "this one has learned to sit & stay" or "this one is the biggest" or "this one gives the most kisses" so that you can make your best decision.
We name puppies to avoid confusion, so that in conversation, everyone knows exactly which puppy is being discussed. These names aren't registered with the AKC and you may choose any name you like for your puppy, if you like the name we chose, you may keep it. We made the decision to name the puppies in part, just because we love them and thought they deserved to be named. We don't actually teach these names to the puppies, we simply call the puppies by "puppy" individually or "puppies" as a group.
This question can be best answered by reading the "About Us" section.
We also charge for the 24/7 care & supervision of the puppies (included in the price).
No.
The extras are purchased prior to the puppies being born.
They're for the enrichment of the puppies, it's very important to us that the puppies have access to these items once in their forever homes.
Sort of.
If you're using the Flight Nanny Service, and if the puppies are still young enough that together they weigh less than 20 pounds, they will be able to fly together at a much lower cost than if flying separately. Please research littermate syndrome before deciding to purchase two puppies from the same litter.
Yes.
If you've already gotten a puppy from us, the deposit fee for a puppy from a different litter will be reduced and a small percentage taken off the total purchase price.
No.
It costs us $2 per puppy to register with the AKC.
You deserve the AKC paperwork.
There are many answers for this question, below are some of the concepts behind selling without papers:
It costs $37.99 (as of 2022) to register your puppy and receive your Registration Certificate in the mail.
The pedigree is available at an additional cost, we recommend ordering the pedigree and framing, pedigree's are lovely conversation starters when you have guests and it's nice to see the lineage of your puppy.
No, not at this time.
We may offer this in the future, but we are seeing issues arising from this practice, so at this time we prefer to have you complete the forms to ensure proper address and recording of ownership.
On the AKC paperwork only the standard colors are listed, however I will include some 4x6 photographs of your puppy and I will have handwritten the correct color code on the paperwork. You simply mail those pictures along with your completed AKC paperwork and the correct color will be recorded by the AKC. Example: the Breed term "Lilac Tri" will officially be recorded as "Grey & White with Fawn Markings" by the AKC. "Chocolate" will be recorded as "Bronze".
No, never!
You just register the microchip and update the microchip with any change of address/phone number, and the information stays in the registry for free, forever.
We chose this particular microchipping company for this very reason, so there's no excuses to not register your puppy's microchip.
Please keep your information current in the registry.
No.
Weight and Height can't be guaranteed.
We can predict, but we never guarantee.
Weight can be influenced by hormones, genes, and diet, and with diet related changes- we especially won't have control of once the puppies are in their forever homes.
Height can vary in either direction by a few inches, and females are typically just smaller than males overall.
Our foundation female is 51 lbs and 12" at the withers.
No.
Those breed terms are, at this point, mostly marketing terms.
The Bulldog Standard actually doesn't even include requirements for height.
Typically English Bulldogs are known to be 12"-16" inches tall at the withers.
Our foundation female is 51 lbs and 12" at the withers.
Instead of using the word "no" use the word "bad", this works best for us, we believe the dogs understand that being bad isn't good and all dogs inherently want to be good.
This is outlined in the contract.
You can not send the puppy to a shelter or rescue.
You can not give the puppy away, or sell the puppy without our permission (reach out, we're not opposed per`se, but there's guidelines we will want you to follow in finding the puppy the best possible home, this situation should be a joint venture in the best interest of the puppy).
You can always return the puppy to us!
If puppy can be resold by us, you'll get that money, minus any medical/housing fees we paid while holding the puppy, this may be significantly lower than the purchase price you paid depending on the puppy's age and how long we have to keep it pending resell.
This is outlined in the contract.
If the puppy dies before it turns 2 years old, you have a necropsy performed on the puppy. If the necropsy report proves that the puppy died because of a genetic defect, we will provide you with a replacement puppy from our next available litter, you pay only transportation costs if applicable. A replacement puppy will always come from a different pairing of parents, to prevent a reoccurrence.
We expect all our puppies to be free and clear of fatal genetic defects, but we want our puppy parents to have peace of mind knowing there's recourse already in place should such a tragedy ever occur.
In our experience, no.
Bulldogs can be excellent emotional support animals for at-home use, they give very therapeutic cuddle sessions, a purpose in life, and you'll look forward to play time with your bulldog, but they won't have the best ability to guide a blind human through traffic on a hot summer day, and because a service dog needs to be capable of working 24/7 in any conditions, we don't advise purchasing any bulldogs for the specific purpose of working as a service dog.
TT Bullyz doesn't currently train puppies for any specific use in service work, guide work, scent work, therapy work, or police work.
AKC Bulldogs are in the non-sporting group.
Please contact us if you're outside of the United States.
We will not send puppies to Australia or Russia at this time, we apologize for the inconvenience.
It's possible for us to export a puppy to another country. But there's rules and regulations we must follow.
Typically we would have to keep the puppy with us until the puppy has received all vaccinations and especially the Rabies vaccination, which is usually around 4 months old. By the age of 4 months the puppy will be too heavy to fly in-cabin, and would have to travel in a crate in the cargo area of the plane. Often the country of destination will then require the puppy to be quarantined. International transport of dogs is common, but costly.
In this scenario the price per puppy would be much higher due to the boarding, training, supervision and medical care we would have to provide for the puppy for those additional months and we would never put the puppy on the cheapest flight, as we would find the safest and quickest flight for the puppy's wellbeing.
Please Note: Some countries restrict the importing of brachycephalic breeds during certain seasons.
Payment would be made in USD$. An international contract would be required.
We don't advertise in other countries, but if you've found us and have fallen in love with one of our puppies, we understand that an international transfer is needed because you've found "The One" and we will sort the red tape.
There are many reasons, some include:
There are many reasons, some include:
Some can swim while others can not swim. We highly recommend a properly fitted life jacket for any bulldog going near pools or bodies of water. Bulldogs are very heavy in relation to their height, and they don't possess the same stamina that other breeds known for swimming do. Bulldogs can drown, please be aware of the swimming risks.
No! Bulldogs ears aren't meant to be cropped. Bulldogs have lovely "rose-ears" which is considered by many owners to be a hallmark trait of the breed. If however, a licensed veterinarian determines ear cropping or other ear surgery to be necessary for the health of your dog, we would certainly be understanding.
We always recommend* the following on a daily basis starting at the age of 16 weeks, these supplements will support and can prevent issues with the skin, coat, and GI tract:
*Always follow your Veterinarian's recommendations and instructions, and inquire about these supplements before use.
We always recommend the following (vet prescription required):
We suggest giving these at least one week apart.
We believe the benefits of these medications outweigh the risks.
We always recommend alternating the following (discuss with your vet):
Besides the initial parvo protocol prior to your puppy's arrival (see our "Resources" section), you should clean (for general maintenance) the following at least as often as listed for best results:
Immediately clean any items that become visibly soiled by any means (example: child drops glass of juice on dog bed, etc.)
We believe that a raw food diet when properly balanced could very well be the best diet for a Bulldog. As with anything, there's pros & cons to a raw diet. We encourage you to do your own research and discuss raw feeding with your vet. Be sure to verify that either the raw diet your giving includes the proper vitamins & minerals required or that you are supplementing those vitamins & minerals that the raw diet is lacking. Also be aware that a raw diet is expensive and you should be financially committed before switching to raw.
We do not feed raw due to concerns of salmonella/e coli risks.
We suggest avoiding Chicken, Beef, Oceanfish/Whitefish.
We recommend Salmon, Duck, Lamb, Turkey, Rabbit, & Kangaroo.
We like limited ingredients, especially in treats.
Note: Lamb is not well tolerated by puppies, if your puppy vomits after ingesting lamb with no other symptoms, this may not be an allergy, stop feeding lamb until the puppy is 1.5 years, then try again.
We suggest grain-inclusive when tolerated. If your puppy doesn't tolerate grain, please try grains again once the puppy has reached adulthood, grains will provide more energy, it's a noticeable difference. Ancient grains can be used as a segue to common grains. Grains support heart health.
Dogs make a sound similar to a cats purr, and it usually means they're happy. This low "brrr" sound is called "Rumbling". A "Rumble" is actually a type of low growl, you'll notice when cuddling that the rumble is a sign of contentment.
A responsible person who loves animals, that has patience, dedication, a willingness to learn and provide, someone who enjoys affection and either doesn't mind dog hair or is okay with household upkeep. If this is you, and you would also prefer to be at home rather than be out on the town, then you would be a terrific bulldog owner.
